History:
[Stripe on the Gremlins Wiki]
Personality:
When compared to the other spawned Mogwai, Stripe is the smartest, and the most cunning and sinister. "Mogwai" means devil and he fits that description perfectly.
He is a huge trouble maker, leading the others into doing things they might not think of on their own. He is the one that comes up with the plan of cutting the clock wire, so that they can be fed after midnight. He also comes up with the plan of getting rid of the jealous dog, stringing him up in the Christmas lights - which in turn causes Billy's dad to bring the dog to a relative's house until Christmas day. Another show of his trouble making smarts was his plan that killed Mrs. Deagle.
Stripe takes over everything, keeping the best things for himself, and having no trouble beating up others.
He is quite the bully, especially to Gizmo - who he tortures for the difference in nature from the rest of them. He is willing to beat others directly or indirectly. Be it by scratching them, biting them, or shooting and throwing darts at them.
He is incredibly aggressive and takes joy in violence, even if he is not the one preforming the violent act. He's just as happy watching other Mogwai (or anyone) kill/attempt to kill/torture others. Stripe has no problem killing one of his own (he can always make more anyway), if he feels the need for it. He is top Mogwai, and that's how it is. Besides killing is fun.
Despite that, he like the other Mogwai, seems to be quite social. Always around others playing, destroying, and chatting when he's not the only one left. When he is the only one left he seeks out water so more of his own kind can be around again.
The destruction of other Mogwai is not overly upsetting, although he certainly does not like it (unless he or another evil Mogwai are the cause of it, then it's fine). Self preservation is more important, and he will do what he can to keep himself from getting killed. Be this by running away to spawn more Mogwai, or to attack when whoever is trying to kill him isn't suspecting. He is more likely to just watch as other Mogwai are beat up or killed than risk himself.
He is obviously not against revenge and he does hold a grudge, keeping his sights on Billy and Gizmo (who he HATES) throughout the movie. As the both of them keep destroying his Mogwai or ruining his plans.
Stripe loves to eat, especially if it's candy. If he's watching a movie, he better have candy, if not he's going out to get some.
In his original furry form, Stripe is not at all cuddly like Gizmo is, and he will bite whoever tries to touch him. That isn't to say that no one could ever hold him, but under most circumstances he's not likely to let it happen.
And like all Mogwai, he likes music, and has a love for the movie Snow White.
WHEN IN LIGHT • Described in the second movie as an "allergy" of sorts, Mogwai do not like bright lights. Bright lights hurt them, forcing them to retreat somewhere darker. That isn't to say they can't be in light, as they can handle dimmed lights. Artificial light if dimmed they can tolerate (or Christmas light strings, the glow of a TVs in a dark room, etc). They are capable of being out in sunlight so long as they are within shade, and do not step out of it. When in contact with sunlight they die, melting down to their skeleton and turning into green goop. Quick contact with sunlight (like a second or two) will burn and cause extreme pain, the same can be said for extremely powerful lights (like a spotlight fixed on one). They dislike the light emitted from fire if it's too close to them... They also go up in flames quick if lit.
GETTING WET • Upon contact with water (and it HAS to be water) Mogwai reproduce. Their backs begin to bubble and the offspring pop right out, although the process is quite painful for the Mogwai popping out the new batch. At the Mogwai form the little bubbles pop off as bouncy balls of fuzz which quickly grow into adult Mogwai within a few minutes/seconds. At the Gremlin form, the Gremlins grow within the bubbles and pop out, continuing to reach adult size within a few minutes/seconds. Other liquids (like milk) won't produce any result aside from wetting the creature, as proven in the original movie script. Liquid water is the only thing, so rain will produce reproduction in Mogwai, while things like snow won't... Ice won't unless you melt it into a puddle. The amount of Mogwai produced is dependent on how much water has touched the creature.
99% of Mogwai produced are like Stripe and the others in the movie (aka evil) while a single 1% are like Gizmo (aka good), having only a 1 in [insert large number here] chance of producing a good one. This was due to a mistake in their creation, the mistake also causing most of the other biological oddities in them (the reproduction method however was intentional). Instinctually the evil Mogwai can sense which Mogwai are good, possibly due to the way they reproduce.
FEEDING AFTER MIDNIGHT • This only applies to Mogwai still in their original form of being small cute and fuzzy. If a Mogwai eats after midnight it enters a kind of cocoon stage. A big green slimy cocoon. After some hours the Mogwai emerges as a violent scaleish creature, which most call Gremlins. Mogwai can eat just about anything, as a Gremlin is seen eating a glass test tube with no side effect, not to mention seeming as though it likes it. Meats/vegetables/dairy/anything. But each is an individual and while one may like certain foods another may not. However, they all seem to love candy.
MUTATIONS • Given the right circumstances Mogwai are easy to mutate, due to their odd genetic makeup. This is mainly seen when they invade a laboratory in the second movie. One eats a vial with a "vegetable medley" used to make vegetables tougher for shipping, and he basically becomes like a vegetable Gremlin - with a face completely made up of vegetables. One drinks a vial of bat DNA and grows wings and becomes bat like. One drinks brain hormone and becomes super smart, etc. Basically this.
ADAPTABILITY/INTELLECT • The Mogwai were originally created to promote peace and goodwill throughout the galaxy, (explaining their cute furry appearance) however a miscalculation caused them to become what they are; mostly evil, transforming into Gremlins if eating after midnight, and allergic to the sun. Because of what they were created to do, they were made to be highly adaptable, easily reproduce, and able to survive in almost any environment found on the many inhabited planets throughout space. Yes, they were created by an alien space scientist and shipped off to other planets because peace and goodwill.
Despite what it seems, Mogwai are smart (usually with one or a few of a batch being vastly more intelligent than the rest). It may not seem like it looking at them, but as far as learning, understanding and problem solving goes, they're incredibly intelligent. Once born they can pick up new things in a matter of seconds/minutes. They can speak from the moment they are born (although not in English) and can pick up new languages quickly. That isn't to say they'll speak the new language as everyone else who uses it, instead simplifying it - like Stripe calling food "yumyum" and water "glub glub" despite knowing the proper words. They don't use proper sentences, again simplifying other languages and getting straight to the point saying only single word or a few. This may be because the languages on Earth (which is the only place we really see them in canon) are too simple for them. When speaking their own language it seems to be in complete sentences.
As with language they pick up on weapons, vehicles and pretty much everything else just as quickly without being taught. Things like using guns, chainsaws, video games, movie theaters, driving machinery, etc. Even learning how to play poker, learning different fashions, smoking cigarettes, the joys of beer, and all kinds of other crazy things. Things that would take most races at least a while to learn (or recognize), especially right after being born.
When cute and fluffy they can also roll into balls to move around. Like Stitch from Lilo & Stitch.
Power Enhancements:
Enhanced strength. Slight resistance to light.
NOT REALLY AN ENHANCEMENT BUT PUTTING IT HERE ANYWAY • The ability to reproduce will not be used at all throughout Stripe's stay, unless you mods are good with a sudden mass swarm of Gremlins at the end of the event.
